Mock Interviewer: Advisor, LearnGlobe.in

Candidate: Lakshmanan

Interviewer: Good day, Lakshmanan. Thank you for joining us today. Let’s begin by discussing your decision to study in Germany and your plans for the visa interview. Can you tell us why you chose to study in Germany?

Lakshmanan: Certainly. I believe that Germany offers exceptional academic quality and practical-oriented programmes, making it an ideal choice for my studies. Moreover, the availability of tuition-free programmes and the rich cultural experience were key factors in my decision.

Interviewer: Those are strong reasons. Could you share your thoughts on why you selected the specific city where your university is located?

Lakshmanan: Absolutely. While my decision to study in Germany was primarily influenced by the university’s program, I’m excited about the opportunity to explore and experience the city. I look forward to discovering its historical landmarks and cultural attractions.

Interviewer: Great. Moving on to your chosen course, can you explain how it relates to your previous studies?

Lakshmanan: Certainly. My choice to pursue an MSc in Biotechnology is a direct continuation of my previous studies in the same field. This continuity is significant to me, and the program’s quality, practical approach, and absence of tuition fees further solidified my decision.

Interviewer: That’s clear. Can you tell us why you chose this specific university and how you learned about it?

Lakshmanan: Of course. My research led me to the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. The international program’s appeal, strong academic staff, internship opportunities, and the fact that tuition fees are not applicable made this university stand out for me.

Interviewer: That’s a well-informed choice. Did you consider studying the same course in your home country?

Lakshmanan: I did consider it, but Germany’s reputation for excellence, particularly in biotechnology studies, influenced my decision. The combination of contemporary knowledge and practical experience offered by German universities was a major factor.

Interviewer: You’ve weighed your options wisely. Can you share if you applied to any other universities?

Lakshmanan: I did apply to a few other universities, but I’m thrilled with the acceptance from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University. I’m eager to start my academic journey there.

Interviewer: That’s exciting. Who motivated and supported you in pursuing studies in Germany?

Lakshmanan: My family and close friends have been unwavering in their support. Their encouragement and belief in my potential played a crucial role in my decision to study in Germany.

Interviewer: Having a support system is valuable. Could you explain why you chose Germany over countries like Canada or the USA?

Lakshmanan: While all these countries offer quality education, Germany’s affordability, excellent universities, and the opportunity to study in English were compelling reasons for me to choose Germany.

Interviewer: You’ve given that careful consideration. Moving on to your knowledge about Germany, could you name a few famous tourist places and explain their significance?

Lakshmanan: Certainly. Some of the renowned places include the Berlin Wall, historic castles, national parks, and cultural landmarks like museums. Each holds unique historical, cultural, or natural importance that draws visitors.

Interviewer: Well done. How about your language skills? Can you tell us about your proficiency in German?

Lakshmanan: I have achieved a B2 level in the German language, and I’m committed to enhancing my language skills further during my stay in Germany.

Interviewer: That’s impressive. Now, can you name the countries that share borders with Germany?

Lakshmanan: Germany shares its borders with Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland.

Interviewer: You’re well-informed. How many states does Germany have, and could you name some of them?

Lakshmanan: Germany consists of sixteen federal states, including Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Interviewer: Great. Let’s focus on your studies. Can you tell us about your intended travel date?

Lakshmanan: My travel date aligns with the university’s enrollment schedule. I aim to arrive in time to complete all necessary registration and enrollment procedures.

Interviewer: Important for a smooth start. Can you estimate the total cost of your studies per year?

Lakshmanan: The tuition fees for the entire study course are nil, and I’ve made arrangements to cover my living expenses during my studies.

Lakshmanan: The course duration is 3 semesters, and I’m looking forward to the comprehensive learning experience.

Interviewer: Excellent. Now, can you briefly explain the scope of your chosen course?

Lakshmanan: I’m pursuing a master’s degree in biotechnology, which focuses on advanced concepts, research, and practical applications in the field of biotechnology.
